John Thiersch is Vice President of Engineering and Technical Services of BWAY Corporation, a leading North American supplier of general line metal and rigid plastic containers.
John, who assumed his current position in August 2016, leads the Engineering and Quality teams to support BWAY’s Engineering, Quality and Safety objectives. He is responsible for designing and implementing BWAY’s strategy for step-change technologies to improve overall efficiencies of the metal segment through process and quality improvements. John brings extensive expertise in Environmental, Health & Safety Standards, Cost Reduction Initiatives, Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing, Process Re-Engineering, Labor Relations, Continuous Improvement, Quality Assurance/Control, and Assembly/Logistic Management.
With over 30 years of can manufacturing experience, John started his career with Davies Can Company, moving on to BWAY Corporation, and then on to Ball Corporation before returning to BWAY in 2014. He has held progressively senior roles from Quality Control to Vice President of Manufacturing.
John holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Akron and has completed the Advanced Executive Program at the Kellogg School of Management.
